Stream of Life
Redwoods National Park
I spent much of my teenage years playing Magic the Gathering. Though I personally had an affinity towards the red cards and how they functioned, there was always something enchanting about the cards that were always associated with the color green. Many of the images were filled with large monsters, deep jungles and forests with mythical creatures moving through them. This image reminds me of such a place. The leaves almost make a stream of life that acts like a river of color above the fern floor. I probably could have pushed this image more down that direction, but I also know that more I push in that direction the more the shadows would look too dark as a print, so I made a compromise.
