Rainbow Over the West Temple

There are photos that help define a career of work, this might be one of them for me. On the eve of this photo, severe weather was predicted for southern Utah. I of course sat there at 11PM thinking about how I might take advantage of this, and conditions looked primed for a spectacular sunrise in Zion. So at 5AM when I woke up, I was disappointed to see that conditions looked like they had shifted later in the day and my morning was going to be a bust for rainbows. But here I was, awake at 5AM and figured, why not lets go check it out.
Off I went and headed into Zion National Park. I arrived at 6:15AM, about 30 minutes before sunrise not sure where to go. So making a last minute decision I hoofed it up the Watchman Trail at the front of the park. I knew I was well behind to get to the top with time to spare, so I hiked with all my speed. My muscles burned, and I was sweating like a dog in the humid monsoon morning air. I arrived to the top of the shelf about 2 minutes before sunrise. From here I frantically tried to put something together, but not much came to me, so I went further. When I got the prominent overlook, some color began to appear in the sky and soon enough magic happened. The rainbow appeared before me dropping in just in front of the West Temple. A view a decade in the making. After I composed my shot I had enough time to take 4 or so sets of images and the rainbow disappeared. Maybe 30 seconds. The quality of the image is still stunning, but the image lacks the reflective surface resulting in a less shiny finish.

If you already have canvas prints within your room where this image will be going, I recommend sticking with the canvas prints. If you want a more stunning and high quality viewing experience I recommend upgrading to the metal or acrylic printing option.

Luxury Acrylic Lumacrome
The Lumachrome process is engineered to overcome and surpass the limitations of traditional Fujiflex chromagenic processes and inkjet processes. Details appear to emerge in 3D from the depths of the image with the Lumachrome process thanks to the transparency layer that is infused with iridium particles and is encapsulated in a layer suspended between the white poly surface and Acrylic.
Due to the in-depth process of printing, expect up to six weeks before you image is shipped.
