Very few times can you ever find yourself out at Mesa Arch without mobs of people. One of those times is in the middle of winter when it is just a few degrees below freezing. I was lucky enough to have been out there with only a few other photographers that morning. While I sat there waiting for the sun to rise, I saw many people taking dozens of images of the dark/barely illuminated horizon. After a while of watching them I realized they were just wasting time. We all came out here for a particular shot and frankly spamming the shutter well before that time was not going to get us "the shot." After that I just stood in the dark cold night enjoying the peace until sunrise came. Good life lesson.
